My house is a Victorian home. No, it wasn’t inherited. Mom and Eleanor just love big, fancy homes. I have no siblings, like most witches, but I’m not complaining. I love all the space, and with magic it’s no problem to keep clean.
My bedroom is in the tower, overlooking the driveway. I spend my time writing, reading, studying, and arting out here.
Our kitchen has an attached greenhouse that leads out to our backyard. Sure, we have a big garden, a fire pit, and a pool with a waterfall, but we also have gossiping flowers, a moody wishing well, and fairy snails. I don’t know why we have fairy snails but no fairies, but they’re friendly and I think one of them is in love with a tulip.
Places
My mom owns The Witch’s Oven and Eleanor owns Magical Living. The greenhouse and garden get plenty of use between them. Mom sells cakes, pies, cookies, pastries, and breads while Eleanor sells creams, ointments, oils, incense, and health elixirs. Mortals are never disappointed.
Books & Bytes is my favorite hangout spot. It’s an Internet cafe and a bookshop with a coffee bar, and there are big beanbag chairs for people to plop down on. Every Friday, a local witch named Yasmin visits to offer mortals Turkish coffee readings. She always has repeat customers.
The Full Moon is the popular local diner. The menu has variety and the portions are generous. Tourists especially flock to it when there’s a full moon because that’s when it’s open for dinner, and on the menu is a special dinner made according to the current seasonal moon. The Flower Moon’s honey-roasted chicken with wildflower pilaf is my favorite.
On the outside, Dragan’s Farm looks like any other farm. Underneath the spell meant to trick mortal eyes, it’s a farm and a safe haven for magical creatures. It provides most of our food and milk. Mortals don’t know it, but no animals are harmed in the process of meat- or milk-making. No, there aren’t any actual dragon steaks or unicorn milkshakes on the menu. Not for mortals, at least.
Stellaluna is my new school. It’s located in a different realm that’s only reachable through portals in attending witches’ homes. It was built many, many moons ago in honor of the Heavens that gifted the first witches magic, and each classroom represents a zodiac sign. Unlike other buildings, Stellaluna has no external structure. It’s literally just stairs (or a ramp) to a silver portal in the middle of an endless ocean under the planets.
